Head to Help has become Head to Health

New name, same great service

In September 2020, six of Victoria’s Public Health Networks (PHNs) funded by the Australian Government, set up a statewide mental health service to support Victorians facing mental health challenges during the pandemic.

At a time of heightened stress and uncertainty, HeadtoHelp played an important role in connecting Victorians to the best mental health support for them.

More than year on, we’re proud to have helped more than 21,000 people in the community.

Now, with new services available in NSW and ACT, the mission for a mentally healthier Australia is growing broader than Victoria. We’re still very much a local service but we’re also aligned to a national vision, which is why we’ve updated our name to ‘Head to Health’.

While the name is new, the service and our values remain the same.

Call 1800 595 212

‘Head to Health’ is a free mental health and wellbeing service for anyone who needs support. Whether you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety, stress, or you just know that you’re not okay – we help Victorians find the best support for them.

That means whoever you are, regardless of age, gender, or health history, we’re here to help.

While the service launched during the pandemic, mental ill-health can affect anyone, at any time.

If you’re not okay but are not sure where to turn, call 1800 595 212. One of our healthcare professionals will take your call and ask a few questions about you and your situation. From here, they’ll help determine what type of support you need and then connect you to the best service.

This could mean introducing you to a therapist for a few confidential sessions, or arranging more complex or long-term support.

Reaching out for support can be daunting, but it could be the important first step on a journey to a mentally healthier you.

“The help I received has allowed me to come out the other side a much brighter person and without it, I cannot imagine how my life would be.” – Head to Health caller.

“As someone who knows first-hand the impacts of mental ill-health, I know just how important it is to reach out for support. While 2021 is behind us, this year will bring its own set of struggles and the Head to Health service is there to help you manage them.” – Tom Boyd, former AFL player and public advocate for increasing conversations around mental health.

We also recognise, respect and affirm the central role played in our work by people with lived experience, their families and/or carers.
